Background

OneSpring had the opportunity to work with a fast-growing Fintech that offered global business-to-business expertise to companies in acquiring or financing a diverse range of consumer-related assets.

This Fintech partners with financial institutions to address complex challenges and strategic changes. As part of an important cloud migration journey, the company initiated an effort to consolidate and streamline its current suite of products.

One of the key objectives of this migration was to modernize the overall user experience of their applications. The redesign of their Data Ingestion application was selected as a “pilot” project to establish a cadence for optimizing the usability and effectiveness of their future suite of products.

The company sought to go beyond simply moving current legacy application features to the cloud, aiming to enhance and streamline functionality to improve the overall user experience through a modernization effort. This effort was intended to yield a new UI design that could be reused and applied to future products.


Challenge

The company's data ingestion processes historically involved several disparate processes and applications. As part of their cloud migration and product consolidation strategy, the company identified the need to redesign an existing application selected for consolidation and optimization. The challenge was to modernize the user experience of this Data Ingestion application to improve its usability and effectiveness, while also establishing design standards for future application development.




Solution

The Fintech company partnered with OneSpring to provide web application design services for the Data Ingestion application. The project aimed to complete the design of its data ingestion process and redesign an existing application. The 10-week project followed a structured approach:

  • Requirements Visualization: Multiple stakeholder sessions were conducted to elicit, validate, and visualize the features and requirements for the redesign, resulting in a visualization model in Figma/FigJam with annotations.

  • Personas: Based on research data, stakeholder interviews, and analytics, OneSpring was to create up to three personas identifying behavioral, attitudinal, and motivational data points, technology usage, personal traits, and demographic data sets.

  • Journey Maps: Journey maps were developed for each persona, based on research data and analytics, highlighting stages, interaction touchpoints, moments that matter, pain-points, and opportunities for improvement.

  • Information Architecture: A new Information Architecture map was created based on requirements, personas, and journey maps.

  • UX/UI Design and Prototyping: OneSpring designed a new UX/UI based on requirements and team recommendations, creating a Figma prototype for review and feedback.

  • UI Style Guide: Using an “atomic” design approach, OneSpring developed a UI Style Guide for components and templates based on the final design, including UI design specifications per component.




Results

The redesign project delivered multifaceted value across the company’s digital ecosystem, ultimately by helping to create a unified user experience for their suite of products. By establishing standardized components and clear design principles, the initiative also dramatically reduced development time for new applications while enhancing overall quality and usability. This also had the benefit of simplifying testing procedures and establishing a repeatable framework for the company’s future product development.
